The client purchased this property with an existing small house on it at street level. The main concept was to keep this existing house as a memory and add a contemporary floating pavilion facing the view. This new section would house the main bedroom and ensuite, with new kitchen and living spaces.
The building embraces the views in all directions, whilst still being private and secure. The roof has a floating appearance all round, with clerestorey glass letting in soft natural light. Stacking folding doors open up on both sides to blur the lines between inside and outside. This effect also encourages natural ventilation and weather permitting, they can live out to the suspended courtyard area with a pool or to the front balcony.
A waterfall rim flow feature was added to the splash pool for effect and tranquillity. We added a fire pit on natural ground level where the water and fire can dance together in the soft moonlight.
